Sway Block Upgrade Options for John Deere 8R, 8RT, 8RX, and 7R

Pick the right RollerGlide variant for your tractor — Heritage, Classic, Precision, or Trac — using the complete decision matrix and tractor-specific fitment guide.

5 min read · Updated June 2026

The RollerGlide 3-Point System ships in four variants. The variants are not just labels — they reflect real differences in John Deere's factory hitch architecture across generations and chassis types. This guide walks through which variant is right for which tractor and why, so you can order with confidence the first time.

Four variants for four architectures

Heritage · John Deere 8000 Series (1994–1999)

RollerGlide Heritage

Fits the John Deere 8000 Series wheeled tractors — the row-crop workhorses that put GPS-guided farming on the map. Same precision bracket and bearing assembly, configured for the geometry of the original 8000 hitch.

Classic · Older wheeled 8 Series

RollerGlide Classic

Fits the original wheeled 8R Series and the 8030 Series wheeled tractors — the tractors built before John Deere transitioned the wheeled lineup to the current-generation hitch hardware.

Precision · Current wheeled, 8RX, and 7R

RollerGlide Precision

Fits the current-generation wheeled 8R, the 8RX four-track lineup, and the full 7R Series. These tractors share the newer factory sway block design John Deere introduced around the Final Tier 4 transition.

Trac · All 8RT track tractors plus 8030T

RollerGlide Trac

Fits all 8RT track tractors — first generation and current generation — plus the 8030T track Series. The Trac uses the same precision bracket assembly as the Classic but is configured for the geometry of the tracked hitch.

Quick decision rules

What you receive in every kit

Every Heritage, Classic, Precision, and Trac order includes:

What if my tractor isn't on the list?

John Deere built a lot of tractor configurations and the lists above cover the production runs we've verified. If your tractor isn't listed but uses any of the OEM sway block or wear plate part numbers (R210605, R210604, R207665, R207666, R309701, R309702, R274328, R274326), RollerGlide is engineered to fit your hitch.

If you're not certain, send a photo of your sway block area to orders@truepointag.com. The bolt pattern, the shape of the wear plate, and the position of the hardware are usually enough to identify the variant. We confirm fitment before processing any order to avoid sending the wrong variant.

Why four variants and not just one

John Deere's hitch design changed across generations in specific ways: the bolt pattern that holds the sway block to the rockshaft housing, the geometry of the lower draft arms, and the mounting layout on the 8000 Series row-crops versus the later 8R chassis. The bolt-pattern change is the reason Classic and Precision are not interchangeable — the mounting holes simply don't line up. The geometry difference between wheeled and tracked tractors is the reason Trac is a separate variant. And the earlier 8000 Series uses a distinct factory sway block layout, which is why Heritage exists as its own kit.

This is why we don't ship a "universal" RollerGlide. A universal part would compromise the precision-fit advantage that's the whole point of the system. Four variants means each one is purpose-built for the architecture of your specific tractor.

Ordering and lead time

RollerGlide is built to order in our Colorado shop. We don't carry pre-fabricated inventory because each variant ships with tractor-specific shim plate thicknesses dialed in for your tractor. Once you order, our typical turnaround is 5–10 business days from order to delivery, with US Ground shipping included for transit. Bulk orders for dealers and large operations can be quoted at orders@truepointag.com.
